The goal of our Youth Basketball program is to build better basketball players from the ground up in 24 Hour Fitness locations across the country. We are committed to hiring the best coaches in youth basketball who share our vision of training done right. Within select markets and 24 Hour Fitness locations (nationally), young kids will have an opportunity to work with coaches who have personally accepted a career in teaching the fundamentals within the game of basketball. Below is a list of our coaches who are committed and dedicated to the development and performance enhancement of each student-athlete.

All workouts and training sessions are coached by Youth Basketball Coordinators, Area Managers, and a host of Hoops24 coaches throughout the country.
Jason Perkins – National Director of Youth Basketball
Jason Perkins, former Youth Basketball Manager and Camp Director with the NBA's Golden State Warriors, joined 24 Hour Fitness as the Director of Youth Basketball Skill Development in 2007. Jason leads the initiative to create a nationwide 24 Hour Fitness Basketball Academy that offers individual and semi-private youth basketball instruction. He is responsible for development of a network of youth basketball camps. In this role Jason will provide an environment for young men and woman to learn the game of basketball and make fitness a way of life. Prior to joining 24 Hour Fitness, Jason has a long history of commitment, perseverance, and success as an athlete, coach, and mentor. Known for being an intense competitor, 3-point shooter, and the epitome of a hard worker, Coach Perkins played his collegiate basketball at the University of California, Riverside, where he also earned his B.S. Degree in Business. He founded the Hoopology 1 on 1 program and managed the Warrior’s youth basketball program.
Jon Folonis - Youth Basketball Coordinator
Jon is a skills development instructor and brings several years of basketball training and coaching experience to 24 Hour Fitness. Coach Jon Folonis attended Santa Monica High where he played 3 years of varsity basketball. After making 1st Team All Bay League, Jon walked on at UC Riverside where he red-shirted his 1st year and played limited minutes during his second year. After two years, Coach Folonis transferred to the College of the Sequoias and then earned a full scholarship to Cal State Los Angeles where he was second on the team in rebounding and scoring. After his junior year at CSULA, Jon transferred to Cal State East Bay where he earned a Conference Player of the Week honor and completed his collegiate basketball career.
DaShawn Freeman - Youth Basketball Coordinator
DaShawn is a skills development instructor and brings several years of basketball training and coaching experience to 24 Hour Fitness. Coach Freeman played four seasons of varsity basketball at St. Mary’s High School in Berkeley. During his junior year, he led the Panthers to their first Division IV state title and was named both All-State and Bay Shore Athletic League MVP. Coach Freeman played at Sacramento State, where he was a two-time all-Big Sky Conference selection and was named the Big Sky Player of the Week three times. Never missing a game during his collegiate career, DaShawn became Sacramento State’s all-time assists and steals leader with 501 assists and 283 steals. After college, Coach DaShawn was drafted 43rd overall in the CBA draft by the Butte Daredevils and participated in the Daredevils Veteran Camp.
Vili Morton - Youth Basketball Area Manager
Coach Vili Morton comes to us from Southern California by way of 29 Palms High School. Vili is a dynamic skills development instructor and provides an instant connection with each of our participants through his approach to the game. Growing up on a military base, Vili went on to star at the University of California, Riverside. As a power forward, Vili was considered a defensive threat as he was ranked in the top ten in the nation (NCAA Division I) in blocked shots. After his collegiate career, Vili went overseas and played professional basketball for the Ballarat Miners in Australia. Upon completing his professional career, Coach Morton taught high school history before joining 24 Hour Fitness.
Danielle Viglione – Youth Basketball Area Manager
Danielle is the most energetic and one of the best skill development instructors in the basketball world. Coach Viglione played her high school basketball in Sacramento for Del Campo High School where she holds 10 California state scoring records. She broke former USC standout and WNBA player/coach - Sheryl Miller’s state record for most points in a season with 1,300 in 1992. Danielle was the California player of the year 2 years in a row and had 3,089 points over her 3 year high school career. She holds five high school national records with 3 pointers in a game (14), 3 pointers in a career (169), and 3 pointers in a career (379). Viglione played at University of Texas where she became the number 8 all time scorer in UT history. She was the GTE all American 3 years in a row and the Big 12 scholar athlete in 1997. She has the UT single game scoring record with 48 points and the UT 3 point career record with 293. She played professionally for the WNBA Sacramento Monarchs and 9 years professionally overseas in Israel, Turkey, and Italy. Danielle will help lead the charge as our first ever female Area Manager in HOOPS24.
Sam Luong – Youth Basketball Coordinator
Coach Luong is a native of Sacramento where he played his high school basketball at McClatchy High School. Sam later moved on to play at his college ball at Dominican University in San Rafael where he was named his team’s Defensive Player of the Year for three seasons. Coach Luong earned a B.A. Degree in Communications during his career at Dominican. Coach Luong furthered his career playing professionally in Europe. After upon retiring from his professional career overseas, Sam began working camps, volunteering his time with the Sacramento Asian Sports Foundation and being involved in the Big Brothers Program. Coach Luong has a huge heart and soft spot in relation to philanthropic events and giving back. Sam is certainly the epitome of a committed HOOPS24 instructor.
Aaron Lawrence – Youth Basketball Coordinator
McClatchy High School in Sacramento: 3 year varsity starting point guard. 2 years All-Metro League First Team. All-City First team (senior year 2001). 2 years team captain. 2 years team MVP. McClatchy HS Male athlete of the Year (2001). Holds two California State High School records (Free throw percentage in a season: 94.7 and Consecutive Free throws made: 54)
West Valley Junior College: Two years All-Coast Conference First team selection (2002,2003) League Leader in three point field goals made. Among leaders in three point field goal percentage (39%) and Free throw percentage (87%). Voted Funniest Guy on the Team (unanimous) in 2003.
University of Alaska Anchorage: 2 year starter (2004, 2006), Team Captain (2006). Led team in assists in 2004 (133). Among top 10 in league in assists, 3pt. Field goal Percentage, and assist-to-turnover ratio in 2004. Led Division 2 school to a career 3-3 record against division 1 schools in the Great Alaska Shootout. Led Shootout in assists in 2003 (16) Led UAA to back-to-back 20 win seasons and NCAA D2 playoff births (2004,2006) Voted Great Northwest Athletic Conference Player of the Week in November 2003. AT&T Alascom Jamboree All-Tournament First team (2003).
After UAA played professionally in the Basketball Japan League for the Saitama Broncos.
Graduated Cum Laude with a B.A. in Sociology. Loves old school R&B and cooking on his George Foreman Grill.
Have been a part of Hoops 24 since November 2008.
